“We Turned on the Radio and Had a Party on the Patio” – ZZ Top
Who can believe May is already over!? “April showers bring May flowers” and I think this year we can say that June really “rose” to the occasion. As the days get longer, us Canadians can finally start emerging from our winter hibernation to reconnect with friends and gear up for the hot summer days ahead.
What better way to bring in a new season than with sipping a cool drink while soaking up the sunshine!? Nobody does patio season quite like Canada. Here in the GTA it’s back in full swing, and boy does it have us reminiscing on some of our favorite outdoor Quiz Coconut events we’ve done over the years.
Time for a Rendezvous
The first event that comes to mind when thinking of the perfect patio trivia session was unlike anything the Quiz Coconut team had ever seen. Hosted at Rendezviews in downtown Toronto (which is proudly known as “the most epic outdoor patio” in the city), the 300 person team at Chubb gathered in the early morning scorching July sun to start of a day of team building with a little brunch quizzing.
Along with being one of the most uniquely decorated spot we’ve ever hosted at, this venue is home to beach volleyball, pickleball, an incredible food and drink menu. With all of those options to keep your group busy, we were nothing short of honored to be invited to entertain the team at Chubb while they got ready for their annual employee appreciation day.
Feeling Hot, Hot, Hot
By 11 am, the patio temperatures peaked at 32° Celsius as 50 teams of trivia loving colleagues from around the globe were pitted against each other in the sweltering heat to see who would be going home with load of company swag and additional paid time off (if that isn’t the best prize at a company event, I don’t know what is). And yes, in case you’re wondering, James wore jeans…. 🥵
Despite the sky high temps, the teams remained cool and collected and all in all, everyone had an amazing time. This event was such an exciting one for Quiz Coconut. We found one of our new favorite venues, provided a fully sustainable trivia event to a fun and diverse team, and learned that next time, we’ll wear shorts.
